When Mezzo Shared Our Story
Sometimes, a story you write quietly finds its way into the world.
In November 2014, we had a special encounter with Mezzo—the national organization supporting anyone who cares for another. Caregivers, volunteers, family, friends… they stand behind them all.
It started with a story I had written after one of their calls. I shared my journey as a caregiver for Codee—how we met, her medical background, and what her move from England to the Netherlands, about a year and a half earlier, had meant for both of us. A big step, filled with change on both sides.
That story reached them.
Mezzo got in touch and soon visited us at home. They took photos, listened to our story, and turned it into something bigger. Seeing our journey and images published on their website felt both surreal and incredibly special. And what made it even more meaningful—they included a link to our own page, so people could truly get to know us.
What stayed with me most was how carefully and respectfully they told our story. It wasn’t just shared—it was understood.
And that matters.
Because caregiving often happens quietly, behind the scenes. So to have it seen, recognised, and valued like this… that’s something I’m truly proud of.
A moment worth sharing 🤍
