Today was all about slowing down, experimenting, and simply enjoying the outdoors together. We took a walk around the beautiful Ontmoetingspark Buiten and the nearby animal park, carrying our cameras and our new lenses with us for a proper test run.

The weather was calm, with soft daylight reflecting on the water around the bridge. One of the first moments that caught my eye was the peaceful view across the stream, where in the distance a heron stood perfectly still on a wooden beam in the middle of the water. It felt like the entire landscape paused for just a second.

Even more surprising was spotting the moon still visible in the middle of the day. Seeing it hanging quietly above the park while surrounded by daylight gave the afternoon a slightly dreamlike feeling.

Along the route we met plenty of animals — curious deer watching from a distance, relaxed alpacas, pigs enjoying the mud, and sheep peacefully grazing in the fields. Near the water we also spotted a cormorant drying its wings, while colorful tulips brightened parts of the path with the last touches of spring.

Of course, this walk was not only about photography, but also about learning. Together with my housemate, we spent time testing our new camera lenses and experimenting with both autofocus and manual focus settings. Some shots worked instantly, others took patience and a lot of retrying, but that is part of the fun of photography. Looking up for creative tree shots, trying to capture reflections on the water, or focusing on distant wildlife reminded us how much there is still to discover behind the lens.

Sometimes the best days are not the big adventures, but simple moments close to home — a quiet walk, a camera in your hands, nature around you, and someone to share it all with.
