The first museum trip of the year is officially checked off ✔️ — and yes, I went straight for the Groninger Museum.
A strong start, because stepping inside felt like entering a time machine that got stuck somewhere between 1979 and the 2000s. Familiar album covers, striking visuals, and a generous dose of pop and hip-hop vibes everywhere. At some point, I almost expected a cassette tape to start talking to me and ask if I had rewound it yet 📀😄
Of course, there’s much more art to discover, but I’ll leave that to your own exploration. Spoiler: boredom is not an option.
Outside, it was a completely different kind of art project. The weather clearly had no interest in subtlety. Cold, misty, and wet — as if the city had decided to give itself a glossy finish. Rain, frozen tiles, and an invisible “slippery mode” were fully activated. I saw people just about saving themselves with dramatic arm movements, and here and there… a surprisingly elegant fall. A kind of modern dance, but entirely unplanned.
I managed to stay upright, which honestly felt like a sport achievement at that point 🏆 Despite the rain making several enthusiastic comebacks, I still managed to take a few photos. Not bad, considering the conditions — and my main focus on not ending up horizontal.
Days like this remind me that photography isn’t always about perfect conditions. Sometimes it’s about embracing what’s there — even if that includes mist, cold fingers, and questionable footing. It’s all part of the story.
Conclusion: a successful visit, a slippery bonus experience, and absolutely worth repeating.
But… this story will have a follow-up. I’ll be back in summer — when the weather cooperates, the pavement has grip again, and I can take more photos without accidental ice-skating ambitions.
To be continued ☀️📸
