Out of Balance… to Find Balance Again

Sometimes, in trying to create balance… you lose it first.

About a month ago, I thought I had found a better rhythm. I changed my planning, spread out tasks, tried to create more space. But instead of calm, it brought the opposite.

More pressure.
More unfinished tasks.
More noise in my head.

So I stopped—and started again.

I moved the household back to the weekends. Simple. Clear. During the week, there just isn’t enough energy left after work, and that’s okay. It doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to work.

And slowly, that brought some peace back.

We changed how we look at our weekends too.

Less planning, more feeling. On Fridays, we decide what we want to do—if anything at all. Sometimes it’s just stepping outside, close to home. And that’s enough. It doesn’t always have to be far to feel meaningful.

Even the small things shifted.

I chose what gives energy—and let go of what doesn’t. A walk on Wednesday mornings that clears my mind. Letting go of another that only added stress. Not everything has to fit anymore.

That might be the biggest lesson.

In between, there were moments of insight. Conversations that make you look at things differently. Small mindset shifts that open new ways forward—not by doing more, but by thinking differently.

And somewhere in all of this, I’m reminded again:

I matter too.

Taking care of myself isn’t something extra—it’s part of the balance. Even if that means pausing things like the gym for now, and picking it up again later. Step by step.

At home, things continue to change as well.

New routines, new adjustments. A walking aid that slowly becomes part of daily life. A stairlift on the way—something small that will soon make a big difference.

And sometimes, a bit of unexpected space. A week where care is shared, even if it comes with its own challenges, like longer travel days. Not perfect—but still a shift.

Looking back, this month brought me back to something simple.

Less structure.
More flexibility.
Less pressure.
More breathing space.

Because balance isn’t something you fix once.

It’s something you keep finding, over and over again. 🤍
