Sometimes, one decision can quietly change everything.
May was one of those months.
It started with something simple on paper—but big in real life. The approval of a regional taxi. A small line in a system, but for Codee, it means movement. Independence. The ability to go somewhere without everything depending on me.
And you can feel the shift straight away.
Appointments become easier. Plans feel lighter. Even the idea of going somewhere alone becomes possible. Step by step, that sense of freedom grows.
At the same time, there was reassurance.
Check-ups that went well. Progress where it matters. Those moments where you realise: things are moving in the right direction—even if it’s slowly.
And then, something different.
For the first time in years, I stepped away.
A few days with my mother. A change of surroundings. New places, open air, long walks through dunes and quiet streets. Moments where I wasn’t only a caregiver—but just myself again.
Camera in hand.
Sunlight on the landscape.
No urgency—just time.
And maybe what made it even more special… was knowing things were okay at home.
Codee had her own kind of week. Time with a friend, laughter, plans being made without me needing to arrange it all. That’s growth too. Not just independence—but connection.
When I came back, life picked up again.
New furniture. Practical things. A house slowly shifting back into place after earlier challenges. Small steps towards comfort, towards stability.
Looking back, this month wasn’t about one big moment.
It was about space.
Space to move.
Space to grow.
Space to breathe.
And sometimes… that’s exactly what you need to move forward. 🤍
